Mafi produces natural finished, engineered timber floor boards. Mafi has remained committed to improving the health and aesthetics of the living space, with the same social, environmental and economical integrity as it was when the business first started. Mafi creates a 100% natural product of the highest quality and embodies a responsibility towards the environment. Selected from sustainable forests all over Europe, Mafi produces over 400,000m2 of hand crafted, wide plank floors every year, each one being manufactured according to the client specifications. Despite being internationally orientated mafi endeavours to remain “100% made in Austria” ensuring a superior quality and service from start to finish.
Mafi Austria
mafi natural wooden floors stand for naturalness, quality, design and service. The flagship store is located in Salzburg, and the mafi international headquarters are in Schneegattern, Austria.
The company stands out due to its distinctive pioneering spirit. Mafi was the first natural timber flooring manufacturer to produce completely lacquer-free flooring, through the use of it’s own natural oils for surface finishing. The 3 layer construction, for increased plank stability, also provided a sensation within the industry. Extreme dimensions, with up to five metres in length or 300mm width are a mafi trademark.
Today mafi is the trendsetter in the area of natural wooden floors. Continuous innovation along with the highest quality and naturalness have made mafi so successful internationally.
The raw material, wood has accompanied the Fillafer family since the end of the first World War. At that time, a sawmill was run in the grounds of the house in Schneegattern, Upper Austria. The largest, contiguous woodland in Central Europe, the Kobern forrest formed the perfect starting point for this. The family took the first steps in the design direction with the production of wooden ceilings and joists and the unique, hand-carved decoration thereof. Over the years, the family-owned enterprise perfected the art of wood-processing and integration into the living space of man. In 1992, Fritz Fillafer’s gaze wandered from the ceiling to the floor, the basis of living space. The enterprise has produced both traditional and innovative natural wooden floors under the mafi brand since then.
With the existing infrastructure and the know-how collected over decades, the foundation was laid for long lasting international success.

Mafi Australia
Mafi opened in Australia over a decade ago, and since then have grown a wide client base across Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane.
Sydney | Headquarters
mafi Australia HQ are located in Sydney. The combined warehouse and showroom is located only 4km from the CBD in the suburb of Alexandria. Alexandria is largely industrial but is quickly becoming a creative hub for cutting edge design and great design.
The combined warehouse and showroom at mafi HQ is a perfect opportunity to share with our clients the processes and honest nature of mafi timber. Guests to the showroom are given the grand tour of mafi Australia here, the showroom is a perfect place for an initial introduction to the mafi product and history, and before the client leaves we are able to take them through to the sample station located downstairs in the warehouse. Here, we can cut them a sample from their favourite timber board and finish the sample with a quick oil at the oiling bench. Visitors and clients love this interaction with the product.

Mafi Australia was first established in Richmond and the success here has set the standards high for the mafi Australia showrooms. Our Victorian Showroom is currently located in South Melbourne and offers a beautifully open space where you can immerse yourself in beautiful natural timber and experience mafi first hand
